OVERALL RATING

Absolutely Perfect!

The moment I saw the NAMM video of the Apollo Twin I was hooked. I knew I had to have it. It took a awhile to reach me here in India but boy was it worth the wait! The reason this product is so alluring is the fact that UA have made a truly pro sounding interface that's also affordable to a lot more people. The DSP is a big plus and unison is just icing on the cake. The 610B on the preamp slot just sounds magical, and it's so evident that it isn't just an emulation plugin.

The moment I plugged these in and played a hi res commercial track, I felt like I had new highend monitors. Honestly, I didn't expect there to be such a huge difference moving from a decent interface. Clarity and detail like I've never heard before.

Huge thumbs up!

Nice Unit

I purchased the unit to replace a Saffire Pro 24. Benefits are DSP processing and the UA Plugins as well as guitar/bass amps. One other huge benefit is the thunderbolt connectivity and the flawless integration with my iMac. Focusrite had to be toyed with to be recognized at times and I had 2 additional on-board inputs that are now sacrificed.
Overall, I'm very happy with the quality and performance.

Apollo Duo The a Perfect Solution

This little box is amazing. The converters are superior, add Unison Technology to that and you are working in a state of the art environment. The Duo is built very well and is also a portable solution for recording.

And you can't review this without mentioning access to some of the finest plug ins in the industry!

Owning a product like this is an absolute pleasure. Thanks UA, stupendous job.

Love it

Really cool piece of gear. Sounds great and the IO options suit me perfectly. My only disappointment is the lack of an extra thunderbolt port. I've had to to buy a thunderbolt dock with HDMI out to use my external monitor.

Review and question of Apollo Twin Duo

Changing the volume level by using the soundcards one central knob produces a light sound. I can listen to this sound from my speakers something that is a bit annoying. Is it possible to make the volume knob to not produce sound when I change the volume ?

Any suggestions?

Amazing Sound and Easy to Use

Great ears will be pleased with this device. The plug-ins are so realistic that it makes me smile. We are living during an amazing time people - so much technology and this device takes up no more space than a mousepad. Worth the investment.

Sounds fantastic! Love it!

I did extensive research on many brands before settling on the UA Apollo Twin. I had recently purchased a 2013 iMac and the Thunderbolt was a great selling point for me. I am extremely happy with how smooth and effortless the UA experience has been, when it comes to installations and adding new plugins. Another big selling point for me were the ENGL plugins. As a guitar player, I am extremely picky about my tone and I've never been satisfied with virtual guitar tones before now.

My only wish is that I have more money to spend on the fantastic plugins that UA offers. Although I only have a few at this time, I have already used them on soundtracks and semi-professional work with great results!

Great interface

Overall a fantastic interface, good quality convertors that are clean, clear with extremely good imaging. No problems at all with the installation or software and after that I have access to the brilliant UAD plug-ins. Would recommend.

Finally my mobile is the quality I need.

Finally my mobile recording/ mixing set up matches my studio and home set up. I can't tell you how important of a product this is to me. I'm on the road a quarter of my year so having the same converters and the same processing power with me is great. I also feel at home with the interface. I reach for a button or knob and it's the right one. No looking to see what I'm doing between different systems. Thank you for making my work flow finally work and flow.

Good sound
And the control is very good
However, the console is a little lack of routing flexibility
Interface and can be used as a good system for uad
Although a very attractive price
Buy more cumbersome plug-ins
dsp power is inconvenient
But I am bound to continue to use uad

A well thought out interface for the home studio

Upgraded from Duet FW. Small studio; ITB and only need 2ch. of AD/DA. I arrange, rec, and mix for people. Money is an issue for me.

At first, I felt underwhelmed by the Twin. It's pricier than the competition, and it's not the only product with dsp processing. The prices for the UAD plugins are considerably more than native counterparts. Duo DSP is not enough for most mix sessions. When I first started using, the Twin didn't feel like much of an upgrade form the Duet.

However, after some time, I've come to appreciate the Twin's design. The analog side of things is intuitive and unobtrusive. The Console app is very useful - more than I expected. Unison tech is quite good. Overall, the experience is much smoother than Duet/Maestro of Apogee

Apollo Twin

I bought this when my G5 Mac expired after ten years. I was using a PCie audio interface which would not work with the new Macs and therefore had to choose a new interface. My reasons for choosing the Apollo were its sound quality, the on-board DSP, the quality and range of UAD plug-ins, and its Thunderbolt connectivity. I have not been disappointed. The sound quality is excellent and noticeably better than my previous interface (which was of very good quality), the installation process was easy and well-documented, the included Analog Classics plug-in bundle was excellent, and the offers and discount coupons I have received since registering have been great. I highly recommend both the product and the company.

Great

Converters and pre's are fantastic sounding. The ability to use the inserts on the ADAT channels is a very welcome feature. The mic pre modelling is incredibly impressive. The plug ins respond very well in real time and retain the same great quality, it feels very much like having the actual pieces of gear. My only complains are, no ADAT out, this is unfortunate as you must clock from an external device if using ADAT, which unless you have a really mean ADAT pre, the source is typically lesser. My only other complaints, no daisy chaining and no UAD QUAD version.

Love it

I love it. I'm coming from a Tascam device which has done me well up until now. I used it for everything. recorded strings, vocals, guitars, bass, brass....damn near everything through it. I've seen songs that I've made, written up about in national media, all from a Tascam. NOW I have this and this blows the Tascam away. I absolutely love this piece of gear. The converters are word class and now that I've got my Avalon 737, I can run it into the 1176 compressors!! Gonna be huge for me this year. Thanks UA for such a great sounding product and incredibly useful tool.
