Vance Powell & INTL
|Writers||Kaleb Jones, Chase Gregory, David Deaton & Thomas Doeve|
|Recorded and Mixed by||Vance Powell|
In this Apollo Artist Session, Grammy-winning engineer Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton) records INTL live at Sputnik Sound in Nashville as they perform "Straight Line," exclusively through a pair of first generation Apollo 16 audio interfaces with Realtime UAD Processing.
Powell used a variety of UAD plug-ins to accentuate the track’s ever-building layers of dense, thick swirl. For dynamics control he called on the 1176 and Neve 33609, and Teletronix LA-2, and LA-2A plug-ins, as well as the Studer A800 Tape Machine plug-in to gently round off transients. EQ was handled by the Pultec EQP 1A and HLF 3C from the Pultec Passive EQ Collection plug-in, the Neve 1081 EQ plug-in, and the 1073 Classic Preamp and EQ Collection plug-in. For time-based effects and modulation, Powell used the MXR Flanger/Doubler and Galaxy Tape Echo plug-ins.
Microphones on the sessions include AEA R88 and R92, AKG D12, Neumann FET47, EV 664, Miktek C5, RCA BK-5B and Type 77-DX, and a Shure Beta 52A and SM57.
