Lexicon® 224 Digital Reverb

An era-defining digital reverb.
From the moment it was unleashed in 1978, the Lexicon 224 Digital Reverb — with its tactile, slider-based controller and famously lush reverb tail — single-handedly defined the sound of an entire era.
From Talking Heads' Remain In Light to U2's The Unforgettable Fire, the Lexicon 224 remains one of the most popular digital reverb units of all time. Now you can track and mix with this singular piece of audio history with the Lexicon 224 Reverb plug-in.Included Versions

UAD Quick Tips
In this video, learn how to thicken lead vocals, tighten up drum loops, and give synths stunning ambience with the Lexicon 224.
A Breakthrough in Emulation
Using the exact algorithms and control processor code from the original hardware, the Lexicon 224 plug-in precisely captures all eight legendary reverb programs and the chorus program — based on the Lexicon 224's final and hard-to-find firmware version 4.4. The Lexicon 224 plug-in also incorporates the original hardware’s input transformers and early AD/DA 12-bit gain stepping converters.
Easy Navigation
Every parameter from the original hardware is present in the Lexicon 224 plug-in, and exposed as dedicated sliders and buttons. Lexicon’s distinctive Bass/Mid “split decay” adjustments and Crossover control set the highly tunable reverb image, while the Treble Decay rolls off high frequencies. Use the Depth control to adjust the distance between source and reverb, while Predelay produces a short delay between the sound source and the onset of reverberation. Diffusion affects how quickly the echo density in the reverb builds up over time.
Modeled to the Last Detail
For total authenticity, the UA-exclusive System Noise control enables or disables the inherent dynamic system noise of the original Lexicon 224 hardware — removing the modeled gain stepping, parameter zippering, and quiescent noise. Clicking the “Open” text to the right of the display panel exposes several hidden controls, including Input/Output gain and Pitch Shift, and even a selectable “Bug Fix” mode which enables/disables historical bug fixes from the Hall B and Chorus programs. Taken together, the Lexicon 224 plug-in is the world’s most authentic model of a true studio classic.
“My love affair with the Lexicon 224 continues unabated. UA has done a tremendous job bringing this original classic into the software realm.”
– Kevin Killen (U2, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush)“The UAD Lexicon 224 Digital Reverb is stunning on vocals. It brings dynamics, without smearing anything. It breathes magic into a track.”
– Armin Van Buuren“I can remember the first time I heard a Lexicon 224, the excitement from that huge sound and its haunting beauty. When I listen to this plug-in I'm transported to that place.”
– Chuck Zwicky (Prince, Soul Asylum, Reggie Watts)“Warm, lush and detailed with the right amount of vintage is the perfect way to describe the UAD Lexicon 224. ”
– Ivan Barias (Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Estelle)“The UAD Lexicon 224 plug-in is excellent for fattening up sounds.”
– The Glitch Mob“I'm very familiar with how the Lexicon 224 sounds and the UAD plug‑in is an amazing replication!”

I have not tried lexicon 224. However, the classic effect seems to have exceeded the level of repetition. Repeating to noise.

M. Hernandez

Real Reverb
Right off the bat lemme say Im a happy owner of the Lexicon Total PCM Bundle. UADs 224 is every bit as good as Lexicons own reverb plugins. One advantage the 224 has is every different room or space type is in one easily edited plugin. Sound wise UADs version can sound warmer. But honestly I could recreate the same space in either package. I have other reverbs that claim to have the Lexicon sound. None come close to UAD.

KILLER REVERB
A killer reverb that I've been using on another UAD system of mine.
Been venturing to using this live (stereo) together with my Lexicon PCM92. Best combination ever.M. Swain
It's all been said ...
... about what a great emulation this is - and with a few extra features it is, for me, 'the boss'. If you want a reverb to stand up and say 'Heh - listen to me!' 224 is your solution. It's not so much a reverb as the sound of a huge chasm waiting to happen!'

This buries all other 224 emulations
It has analog soul and grit. I've bought a few 224 knockoffs such as the NI RC 24, which are nice in their own right (you can never have too many reverbs), but they sound smoother and less analog by comparison. This plugin seems to have unique non-linearities in its DNA, which make it feel more lively. Whatever the reason, I love the sound of it and have started reaching for it a lot more frequently.

The classic 224
Heard on countless albums from the 80s and beyond. This is an essential reverb tool. Such beautiful color. Everything from minimal spaciousness to humongous halls. I use it on guitars, vocals, synths, and even mixes. Great all around effect. Has a permanent home in my send bus. In fact, it has been so satisfying, I haven't even tried the other UA reverb options yet. The Lexicon 224 is my go-to for reverberation. A must have!

Lexicon 224 Reverb PlugIn
224 is extremely musical and good sounding reverb. It works as a great "bigger than life" glue in mixes. Vocals and synths love it.

Brings freshness to most things
This reverb is smooth and complex, but the controls are simple to play with. I'm still learning about where to use it best, because it does use up a lot of processor, but I like what I hear a lot. Thanks for the amazing tool!

A reverb plugin with character!
Editing reverb settings with faders is definitely a new experience for me but it's so simple and it works. It's the only reverb that I've used that gives character, but can still be used in cleaner scenarios.

Deep, Thick, Rich
So good for that throw back 80s tone. Take the time to really work in your mix and you will find these work for almost everything!
