AES • SANTA CRUZ • CALIFORNIA, USA • 7 OCTOBER 2005 -— Universal Audio, a manufacturer of high-quality vintage audio hardware and DSP software plug-ins for digital audio workstations, today announced that they will be contributing $25 for each of the first 1,000 orders they receive for their new Solo mic preamps to Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild homes recently damaged by hurricane Katrina. The money will go directly to Habitat for Humanity upon receipt of the orders for either the new Solo/110 or Solo/610 preamps until the $25,000 total is reached.

“When we saw the devastation inflicted on the Gulf Coast region we felt as a company we had to do something,” said Matt Ward, Universal Audio’s president. “While we head out to another tradeshow to launch another product, thousands and thousands of people are without the most basic of life’s necessities. Hopefully, by sharing a portion of our success as a company we can ease their suffering and make this product launch a bit more meaningful for our employees and distribution partners”

“Universal Audio is a small part of a larger musical eco-system,“ added Bill Putnam Jr. CEO and Founder of UA. “and that eco-system took a colossal hit when Katrina ripped thorough the bayou. So, in addition, to wanting to extend a helping hand to people who really need it, we feel a responsibility to help rebuild the homes, lives and culture of the Big Easy so that it can thrive again with the authentic sounds of jazz, blues and zydeco.”
