Yes: it has THAT sound, but you have to be connected to the internet to use native versions
I used a hardware 660 many years ago during some sessions in Nashville. Since then, I've wanted THAT sound on lots of other projects, but haven't been able to replicate it. These plugins are the closest I ever recall getting. They are fairly low in CPU usage, too, which makes them suitable for moderate mixing uses without having to bounce/freeze/print stems all over the place. Very nice to have quick access like that.
The one complaint -- and this is why I knock off a star -- is that you have to be connected to the internet to use the native versions. I generally turn off my network connection while recording, but that disables these plugins after a short time. So, every few hours, I need to reconnect and refresh everything in UA connect.

Great but..
its awesome and everything but gives some kind of color sound a bit but yeah this one is probably specific one and should be used on instruments that need color or warmth.

Excellent sounding plugin
The plugin sounds excellent and you can really here the results. The UADx version crashes Ozone 9 which is a problem for my mastering work considering the price of the plugin. The classic UAD version works well though.

I had this with uad 1 but did not use it much. I love the smoothness and phatness this offers to a vocal. I will be tring it on other things. I would love to see more of the plugins sold at a reasonable price expecially for tose who own previous versions.

Pretty good!
Like most people I use this in drum and bass applications. It provides a great 'lift'. I'm not going to lie, I prefer plug in alliance MC77 but I'll use this in some applications as well.
Yet another good solid plugin from UAD!

Very good, not essential.
I haven't found a reason to use this in EVERYTHING. However, it's that something different in my arsenal when doing vocal processing. I hit vocals with 1176, then Pultec EQ, then LA-2A....and this thing can really be a weapon. It's a great replica I just don't think it's in my Top 5 best UAD plugins

This one is a beast.
I was messing with it the other night and just A/B ing very subtle to super nasty and it’s a beast. It settles everything into itself very nicely and I will probably find a use for it on every song I record.

Good upgrade
I think this one Is a really good upgrade from the Legacy version in terms of sound. I use It quite a lot.
I think it's time for some resizing options tho.

The best Fairchild emulation. I't good on the Apollo, but not flawless.
The GUI is outdated. 15 years ago it was OK with the screen resolution, but not today. I wouldn't complain if the plug was $ 20, but it is expensive. So - it's not hard to program a newer GUI...
And the we have the UADx. Seriously, what are you up to with iLok? The validation is nothing but plain rubbish!!! "Guest cloud" - the normal way should be to activate direct to the physical dongle, not the cloud. The cloudish dingdongdongle process slows down start up for Logic. Checking out licenses outside of the DAW takes exactly 14 secs, inside the DAW seems to be over a minute. Just rubbish!
So you must fix the UA connect. Period.

I find UA’s 670 the most useful when I need a tube Fairchild style compressor.
When the sides aren’t linked there is a real
Magic the is happening.
I do find the Output is before the mix a bit weird, also a tooltip may be very useful for the tiny knobs ;)

nice color
The fairchild is always a colorful option. I got to test it on 2-3 trarcks.
the results are sometimes 2 aggressive.

Also er klingt auf jeden Fall gut. Man muss aufpassen, das das Eingangssignal laut genug ist, sonst schlägt er nicht an. Das hat mich verwirrt.
Aber er klingt in jedem Fall gut.

Il est vraiment excellent comme dit certain sur des drums il fait un très bon boulot.
Par contre un seul bémol ça manque de visibilité en terme de fréquences sidechain exemple ou autre, quand on souhaite viser une fréquence spécifique c'est du plouf plouf c'est valable pour tout les plugins c'est le seul point noir à mon sens

my favorite drum bus compressor or maybe on the mix bus. lots of control and features. best Fairchild plug in

Tight
I spesially like this compressor on Bass guitar. It gives a tight and firm basstone. Recommanded from our hearts , from Himmlalyd ......Happy with this in the mix
