Hobbyist finds this useful for most tracks

    by M. Kinzer . 5 out of 5 stars

I have purchased only three plug-ins for my Apollo, and this one is the best. I'd been waiting for it to come down in price. As a hobbyist, I am pretty stingy with plug-in money. This was well worth the cost though (discounted by December sale, and then with a coupon to boot). I am having great fun with this. When tweaked down a bit, to remove some of the wobbly, there is less fun, but such room for my sounds. Makes a piano sound like its from another planet, yet warm enough to want to wade into the sound while soaking in a warm bath.

    F A N T A S T I C

    by A. Kosinski . 5 out of 5 stars

In 80-th I used Roland RE-2o1 Space Echo with my Mini Moog on stage. Oh! It was fantastic setup! Many last years I dreamed about it. Now it's really possible with RE-201 UAD plug-in. Thank you, Universal Audio.!!!

Not in the least bit authentic -please revamp this plug-in

    by P. Sturrock . 1 out of 5 stars

I own an original Roland RE-201 this plug sounds nothing like it (even allowing for tape head wear etc) it doesn't capture the character of the original especially when pushed hard on the repeats. UAD could do with remodelling this classic like they did with the 1176 collection which are now a viable alternative to the real thing. As it stands this is really misleading to market this plug as a Roland RE201.

    by D. Hrivnak . 4 out of 5 stars

I own an original RE-201, and I love Universal Audio's plug-in emulations of classic gear, so I was really looking forward to getting this plug-in to make things like BPM matching much easier. However, after doing some comparison tests, I ended up not buying it because I really preferred the sound of the hardware unit (though it sure would be nice to not have such a high noise floor).

You can hear the differences for yourself here, if you'd like:

I still gave it four stars because it's a great-sounding delay plug-in, even though I do prefer the original.

Sounds great! Best tape delay emulation I've heard. But it is a huge, HUGE power HOG.

    MEH meh

    by S. Henry . 3 out of 5 stars

Meh because its definitely not worth $200. Its too simple to cost that much in relation to what you get for that kind of money elsewhere.

Rock / Metal / Guitar / Space Delay

    by C. Huseyin . 5 out of 5 stars

The units attitude and sonic texture all points to one fundamental thing: Guitars

Sure, any delay can be used on any potential material, but the question often is - which delay really captures the source?

The unit can also be used to give any material a 'tough' or "Spaced" feel. This should be in your arsenal of potential plug-ins. 5/5

Sounds really good, but it is not very friendly

    by F. Goes . 3 out of 5 stars

    Sounds really good.
But It is not easy to go across the presets, as you have to upload in 2 clicks one by one, instead of the common "one click preset change".
Also it seems you don't have free access to all buttons of the panel, as untill now, it appears to be all linked with presets you can not change by smply moving around.
I'm with it for only a couple of weeks, but this is what it feels so far.

    Such a Great found

    by T. Ruiz . 5 out of 5 stars

I've tried to emulate this delay colors and vintage ambience for so many years. I found it with this amazing emulation of the SpaceEcho. And I loved the additions UA did on this plugin that the original hardware doesn't have. I'm so glad I bought it. I'm using it a lot.

    My grooves are thankful!

by G. Raffa. 5 out of 5 stars

I had a blast using the RE-201 on my rythmic patterns. It's the tool I would use in every production to give movement to my elements. Thanks UAD

    Echoes... in Spaaaaaaaaaaace

by I. Finlayson. 4 out of 5 stars

This one's a lot of fun. It definitely does "the Space Echo thing", though I do think UA could revisit it given the miracles they've since performed with the Studer, Ampex, and the MK 2 plugins. Nonetheless, this works great in a mix, whether going for subtle delay or full-on tape chaos. It comes alive when automated, and the spring reverb is a nice lo-fi bonus as well. Along with the EMT 140, the RE-201 always on a send bus in my projects.

Finally a space echo without the noise

    by S. Lay . 5 out of 5 stars

I love this thing. Every one that I have ever used was too noisy to record with. Thanks UA for another gem.

Bar none - my favorite most useful plugin for indie electronica

    by C. Siu . 5 out of 5 stars

I do indie electronica - think LCD Soundsystem....the RE-201 is bar none my most useful UAD-2 PLugin. The warmth and just analog-y nature of the feedback on this device is really really gorgeous....particularly anything where you can put it into a self sustaining loop, where the feedback serves as a fuzzy backdrop to the current notes.

A++ plugin. Can't be without it now.

    Roland Space Echo

    by R. Gutser . 5 out of 5 stars

I always desired the hardware version of the space echo - but I found now the plugin-version which is for me the optimum solution:

    -sounds like the hardware
-won't break (good look to get spare parts for the hardware)
-very high price-efficiency compared to the hardware

    I give a 5-star rating
