I am selling a used UAD card and want to transfer ownership - how do I do that?
If you own only one UAD card, selling it and transferring your plug-in authorization(s) is relatively simple and straightforward. However, you (the seller) must request a transfer and provide contact and registration details for the new owner using our transfer request form. Please read the additional transfer FAQ on the transfer request page.

I have several UAD cards and plug-in licenses, and want to sell one of the cards. Can I sell the card with my plug-in licenses?
UAD multi-card setups, or single cards that have been split away from a group, can be resold and the licenses transferred. However, be aware that plug-in authorization (and the license agreed to during installation) can only exist between UA and a single user. Therefore the UAD transfer policy is ALL OR NONE, meaning you can either sell a single card with all your multi-card plug-in authorizations or none. Obviously plug-in licenses/authorizations cannot be shared or split among multiple users. So when you sell your UAD cards or split away a single card for resale, you have to decide whether to transfer all of your plug-in licenses or none – we cannot be responsible for policing which plug-ins were promised and which plug-ins were actually delivered.
Before you deliver a used UAD card, you (the seller) must request a transfer and provide contact and registration details for the new owner using our transfer request page.

I am thinking about buying a used UAD card. How do I make sure to get the plug-ins I’ve been promised?
If you are a potential buyer of a used UAD card, please verify with the seller that he is willing to give up all his plug-ins before completing the transaction. We can’t be responsible for policing which plug-ins were promised and which plug-ins were actually delivered. Therefore the UAD resale and transfer policy is ALL OR NONE. Unless the seller contacts UA with your details and instructs us to transfer all of his plug-ins to you, assume that you are purchasing a UAD-1 Project Pak with no additional plug-ins. In order to use this card, you’ll need to register with us at my.uaudio.com and then download the latest UAD software for your OS version along with the plug-in authorization files. You can then buy additional plug-ins at my.uaudio.com whenever you need.

I'm considering buying a used UAD card, how do I transfer the plug-in licenses?
Caveat Emptor! Buyer beware. You should know that Universal Audio’s plug-in transfer policy is ALL OR NONE. That is, the seller has to notify us via email and agree to transfer all his plug-in authorizations (for all his cards and plug-in bundles) before you attempt to use even one of them. Otherwise, you will be buying a UAD-1 Project Pak or UAD-1e Express PAK. So please make it clear to the seller that he/she must our transfer request page and agree to part with his plug-ins before you conclude your transaction.

I want to sell one or more of my plug-in licenses without selling my UAD(s). Is that possible?
No. We are going the extra mile to help customers sell UAD cards and transfer all their plug-ins (or none as the case may be), but we cannot get tangled up in the second hand plug-in business.

I want to trade in one or more of my plug-in authorizations/licenses for a different plug-in license. Is that possible?

Is Apple's new 8-core Mac Pro compatible with the UAD-1e?
Some users are experiencing problems with Apple Mac Pro computers and Logic 8, when used with UAD Powered Plug-Ins. The problems manifest as CPU spiking, and occasional halting of playback. They seem to occur more often on the 8-core model. We have determined that this problem stems from the unique way in which Logic 8 treats plug-ins on a track with no audio currently passing through it. We are currently examining workarounds but have no definitive solution at this time. Please note that other hosts besides Logic 8 work fine with UAD-1e on the Mac Pro models, including the 8-core.
Therefore we do NOT currently recommend purchasing either a UAD-1e or UAD-1 to use with this specific CPU/DAW configuration.
