UAD Powered Plug-Ins
Macintosh Release Notes

Version 4.10.0
Updated June 3, 2007

This document contains the most recent technical information for this release. Please review all the information before installing or using the product.

UAD Powered Plug-Ins v4.10.0 Information

  • The file extension for optional plug-in license authorization key files was changed from .reg to .uad as of UAD v4.7.0. Version 4.7.0 (and higher) Mac users can now simply double-click authorization files to load them.

Mac users that choose not to update to v4.7.0 (or higher) need to follow the prior procedure to load authorizaton files (drag file onto the UAD-1 Meter application icon, or select "Load Settings..." from the UAD-1 Meter "File" menu).

Technical Notes and Known issues on Mac Pro systems

  • Issues have been reported when using the UAD-1e in Mac Pro systems with Logic 8. For the latest information, please review the following technical bulletin:

Technical Notes and Known issues on G5 systems

Important Information

  • The Host Application Notes contain optimization information for specific audio hosts. Be sure to review the notes for the host application(s) you are using.

  • The UAD drivers and plugins are a matched set. Some plugins depend on others to provide shared functionality. Keep the complete installed set of UAD plugins in the same location. Do not rename the UAD plugin files. If you are using multiple host applications, make sure they all have the same version of the UAD plugins installed.

  • The UAD driver files are identical for all UAD plug-in formats (AU, VST, RTAS). To avoid incompatibility issues when using AU, VST, and RTAS, make sure all installed UAD Powered Plug-Ins components are the same version. This is easily accomplished by simply running the UAD installer

  • Simultaneous use of AU and VST versions of UAD plugins within a single host is not supported. In hosts that support both AU and VST plugins, we recommend using the VST version of UAD plugins.

  • Some UAD Powered Plug-Ins do not support sample rates above 96kHz. For complete details, please see the Sample Rate diagram on our charts page.

  • DSP load estimates are slightly overestimated and may vary depending on the plugin. This means the Load Limiting feature may reject new plugins at lower CPU values than specified.

  • Deep sleep mode is not officially supported when the UAD card(s) is in an expansion chassis.

  • In order for UAD settings and plugin authorizations made in the UAD Meter to be retained, the current user must have administrator privileges.

  • Plate 140 can be constrained to always or never use Wet Solo mode by setting its global defaults. Click here for more information.

  • (Audio Units only) Audio Unit factory default presets are read-only (this is part of the AU specification). If you select and edit preset within a bank, select a different preset in the same bank, then go back to the edited preset, the edits will be lost.

  • (Audio Units only) VST presets cannot be loaded into UAD Audio Units plugins using the host application load/save buttons. To load VST presets from within an AU host, use the "Load VST Preset" button at the bottom of the UAD plugin window.

  • (Audio Units only) In Cambridge EQ, some hosts may not properly record/playback movement of the handle "bats" in the graphic EQ display. Use the EQ knobs instead of the bats when recording automation.

Critical Version 4.x Compatibility Information

  • Project settings and preset files for the CS-1 and Nigel family plugins that are saved with version 4.x will not load correctly with version 3.x. This applies even if the project was originally created with version 3.x.

  • (CS-1/DM-1/DM-1L) In projects that were saved with UAD version 3.9.0 (and lower) then loaded with version 4.x, automation of the "LFO Type" parameter will not be read correctly.

Mac OS 9 to OS X Session Compatibility

Due to the following two issues, when moving Mac OS 9 projects to Mac OS X, we recommend finishing current projects under Mac OS 9 before migrating to Mac OS X. Consider making screenshots for settings references if a mid-project migration is necessary.

  • (MAS) When loading sessions that were saved in Digital Performer on OS 9 with MAS versions of the UAD plugins, the corresponding AU versions of the UAD plugins will load, but initial plugin settings and automation are not restored.

  • (Logic VST) Logic will load corresponding UAD AU plugins when older OS 9 or Windows sessions containing UAD VST plugins are loaded, but only when running Logic Pro 7.2.1 (or higher) in conjunction with UAD v4.3.0 (or higher).
