Complete Uninstall and Reinstall Procedure (Windows)

Before proceeding, download the most recent version of the UAD installer from the UAD Software Downloads page.

  1. Goto: Start/Programs/UAD Powered Plug-Ins... Select "Remove UAD Powered Plug-Ins"
  2. Goto: Start/Settings/Control Panel/System... Select the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager"
  3. Expand/Open the "Audio DSP accellerators" icon and then select " UAD-2 System Driver" and "Universal Audio UAD-2 **** DSP card"
  4. In the File menu select "Action" and choose "Uninstall"
  5. Expand/Open the "DSP accellerators" icon then select "Universal Audio UAD-1 DSP card"
  6. In the File menu select "Action" and choose "Uninstall"
  7. Clear out the Universal Audio section of the registry:
    1. Goto: Start/Run... and type "regedit"
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE for 32 bit systems. For 64 bit systems you should navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\
    3. Right click the "Universal Audio" folder and choose Delete.
  8. Turn off computer and take out UAD card/cards.
  9. Turn on computer and install the latest UAD software.
  10. After reinstalling the software, Shut Down the computer and install the UAD card(s) again.
  11. Start up the computer and the Windows New Hardware Wizard will try to locate the new drivers. Follow these steps:
    1. Select the "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" option, and click Next.
    2. The UAD card drivers will be installed. Click "Finish" when complete.
    3. The New Hardware Wizard will run again to look for the Powered Plug-Ins driver.
    4. Select the "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" option, and click Next.
    5. The Powered Plug-Ins driver will be installed. Click "Finish" when complete.
  12. Authorize your UAD card.
    Launch the UAD Meter & Control Panel application and select the Plug-Ins panel...then click the 'Authorize Plug Ins...' button to update.
    IMPORTANT NOTE: You must click the "Authorize Plug-Ins..." button to authorize. It is important that you do not login to my.uaudio and click the 'Download Authorization File' button to get a new authorization file. (The 'Download Authorization File' feature on the website is only for user running UAD software prior to version 5.0.0.)
  13. When complete do a cold reboot (full shut down rather than restart).
