| Wow, the UAD-1 Cards are all over this. I fell in love with the 1176 and Fairchild compressors! I used the 1176 on the vocals, guitars, snare, and toms. I have two UAD-1 cards and this really gave me a ton of DSP power to go nuts with. On the lead vocal I used the Fairchild to bring out the warmth on the bottom, and the 1176 to really make it sing (please excuse the pun)!
The snare has been doubled with one left quite natural and the other compressed like crazy to give it a really metallic sound. Then they are blended together to create that "I'm not sure if that's a killer sample or a real drum‚ sound." The kick and bass really benefited from the LA-2A. It‚s a thing of beauty what the LA-2A dose for bottom end! Really tight, tight punch! I also used the Pultec EQ on a lot of stuff. I could go on forever so I will try to keep it brief. I particularly loved what they did for the overheads and high hat. You could really push the envelope without making it sound "EQ'ed". Definitly the best EQ plugin I have ever heard and very true to the hardware unit! Well, I guess that‚s it. I will just finish by saying that the UAD-1 cards were by far the best recording purchase I have ever made because they made a huge difference in the quality of my recordings! GET ONE! Or better yet GET TWO! |
