In last month's webzine article, I showed you how to use the SE versions of the Neve plug-ins to maximize the power of the UAD Nevana X2. This month, I'm using the full versions of the Neve plug-ins on a session. Starting September 1, if you already own a UAD card or two, you can buy the new Neve Classic Console Bundle v2, which includes all the Neve plug-ins, for only $799! That’s a savings of $247!

I also used the $200 voucher that came with the UAD Nevana to buy the Roland Classic Series FX Bundle and the Plate 140 (OK, so I had to pay another $348, but what a deal!), so I'll be demonstrating the Dimension D and the RE-201 Space Echo, and the Plate 140.

This session consisted of 8 mono tracks, and is a pretty simple arrangement. I like to use the Neve 1081 EQ on acoustic guitars, as I did here, as well as the Neve 33609 Compressor to compress the acoustic guitars as a group.
For the most part I did some mild corrective EQing, but in a one case I did some hefty tone shaping to bring out the midrange tones of the upright bass with a Neve 1073 EQ. I also used the compressor and EQ in the Neve 88RS Channel Strip quite a bit.
Because the full versions do take quite a bit of DSP, even with two cards, I used the freeze function in Digital Performer in a couple of spots. But all together, I was able to use 13 very high-quality plug-ins in the session.

In the video links below, you'll see a demo of how and why I used certain plug-ins, and you can download the presets as well.
