Congrats to Grammy nominees and Universal Audio users White Stripes, The Shins, Joe Satriani, U2, and producers Daniel Ho, Mike Elizondo, Joe Chiccarelli (nominated for Producer of the Year) and Jimmy Douglass. Universal Audio congratulates all the Grammy nominees. We appreciate how hard it is to negotiate the recording-world jungle in this post-Napster world.
If you are a member of the Recording Academy, don't forget to vote.
Nearing 50 years of celebrating music through the Grammy Awards, The Recording Academy continues its rich legacy and ongoing growth as the premier outlet for honoring achievements in the recording arts and supporting the music community. The Grammys are the only peer-presented award to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position.
If you are nominated for a Grammy and we didn't mention you, write us and tell us!
Rock Legend Peter Frampton picked up a UAD-1 Xpander and had this to say:
"INCREDIBLE !!!!!!! I love it - wow, I can't believe I can UA plugins everywhere I go now. And thank you. I can now get a couple more."
Next month, get set for photos from the NAMM show!

Universal, XM Settle Music Lawsuit
Universal Music Group (no affiliation with UA) and XM Satellite Radio Holdings, Inc. said recently they have agreed to settle a copyright-infringement lawsuit over a portable music player sold by the broadcaster that enables users to make digital copies of music.
The deal calls for XM to pay Universal Music a fee for every device sold with the ability to make digital copies of individual tracks, a person familiar with the agreement said on condition of anonymity, citing the confidential nature of the matter.

Department of Justice Sides With RIAA in File Sharing Case
The Justice Department has sided with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) against a Minnesota woman appealing a $220,000 judgment against her for illegal file sharing. In a filing with the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, the Justice Department supported the RIAA's award, asking that the court reject Jammie Thomas' appeal.
In October, Thomas' lawyer filed a motion to set the judgment aside, claiming that the verdict, which amounts to $9,250 for each song allegedly shared, was unconstitutionally excessive considering the actual value of each downloaded song was less than $1 a piece.
