Was really hoping for some nice crunch with this when overdriven but it’s unfortunately not pleasant breakup. A real shame and a missed trick.

That's probably just me though. Obviously I've never used the original. I mainly purchased this for use with Bass - but do use it occassionally when fatening a vocal or keyboard is required. TBH I thought I would use it more - but in the battle of choices I usually end up using the LA-6176 or Helios or maybe even Neve for a warming Unison input.
