    Absolutely awesome amp, for super high gain and Super clean

    I already have the VH4 amp but got the Herbert because of the sparkling clean Tones that the included IRs let me get. I tried to get good toned out of UAD Brainworks amps and for the life of me nothing sounded realistic or good until I moved the amp out of Unison into regular plugin slot. I also turn down the Gain on the interface all the way down and volume on my guitar to about 5 and then I turn up the gain on the plugin. To me that sounds good, chunky, thick, growling. Everything in unison slot sounded like a kazoo. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Anyways with enough tweaking you can get any sound you want out of this amp.

    Unexpected Performance

    Very much like the other UAD Diezel amp this one also has its main strength not in the hi gain area as you would expect but in the clean sounds that are just a smidge before breaking. They sound so so sweet. I bought the Diezel plug ins lately after I had nearly all the other amps because I did not expect much, but I could not have been more wrong. Now they are among my favorite amps, especially this one.

Yes, you’ll need an Apollo audio interface, UAD-2 Satellite, or UAD-2 PCIe card to run these plug-ins, using the onboard DSP. The plug-ins run on the hardware itself, without adding strain to your computer’s CPU. In an Apollo, onboard DSP processing allows you to run realtime UAD plug-ins with near-zero latency, and even record that processing directly to your DAW.

UAD-2 licenses follow the hardware, it does not matter which computer they are connected to.
