Harmonic Saturation for Your Entire Mix

Developed by Brainworx, the UAD elysia karacter™ gives you the color and character of elysia's boutique Discrete Class A processors. Now available for Apollo DSP, these plug-ins unlock gentle mastering-grade saturation to aggressive harmonic destruction across tracks, buses, stems, and full mixes.

Go from Subtle Sheen to Total Destruction

Use Saturation mode for gentle harmonic thickness and enhancement. FET Shred pushes into asymmetrical distortion with attitude. And Turbo Boost takes things further into extreme clipping and radical sound design territory.

Thicken Any Track, No Compressor Required

At lower gain settings, karacter behaves more like a mastering tool than a distortion effect. Giving you leveling without obvious clipping or compression. The result is louder mixes with added warmth and density — the kind of weight that usually takes multiple processors to achieve.

Take Control of Your Stereo Tracks

With Mid/Side mode, you can add weight to the mono low end while leaving the sides open, for punchy three-dimensional sound. The Unlinked Stereo setting lets you control left and right independently, useful when you want different amounts of saturation or color on each side of the stereo field.

    Not really impressed

    Like many of the lower priced plugins from UA, this one is rather insignificant in the ability to add much character. I already have a rock solid mastering profile, with plugins that provide exactly what I want in my final mixes. I really cannot see much use for this plugin in a professional environment.

Yes, you’ll need an Apollo audio interface, UAD-2 Satellite, or UAD-2 PCIe card to run these plug-ins, using the onboard DSP. The plug-ins run on the hardware itself, without adding strain to your computer’s CPU. In an Apollo, onboard DSP processing allows you to run realtime UAD plug-ins with near-zero latency, and even record that processing directly to your DAW.
Yes, you can start a fully functional 14-day demo from any plug-in bundled with the UAD software. Simply click “Start Demo”, and start using it in your DAW.
UAD-2 licenses follow the hardware, it does not matter which computer they are connected to. You can have up to six UAD-2 devices registered to a system in your Universal Audio account, which share those licenses. See UAD-2 Plug-In Licensing Explained for full details. Authorization of UAD-2 hardware is managed by the UAD Meter & Control Panel Application.
