In 1973, Roland created the RE-201 Space Echo* — a tape delay/spring reverb system that created warm, warped, unabashedly analog echo effects. The Galaxy Tape Echo plug-in gives you the same sound that has shaped recordings by Pink Floyd and David Bowie, to seminal dub sides from King Tubby, Scientist and Lee “Scratch” Perry.

Take Your Tracks to Outer Space

With every quirk of the hardware emulated, you can add hair to a vocal or widen a drum bus with fat analog character. Tweak the controls and get tons of wow and flutter and pitch shifting combinations — perfect for energizing electric guitars. From rockabilly slapback to swirling delays, Galaxy Tape Echo is your new secret sauce.

Harness Classic Echo Effects Faithful to the Original

Galaxy Tape Echo keeps the controls of the original hardware, and adds some for modern workflows. Use the Mode Selector for various head combinations, Repeat Rate for timing, and Intensity for repeats and self-oscillation. The Echo/Normal switch mutes the signal to the echo, while global Bass and Treble let you season to taste.

Updated for your Modern Workflow

New features include Tempo Sync, Pan controls for reverb and delay, and Tape Select, for varying delay timbres. By capturing the eccentricities of the original, and adding enhancements along the way, the Galaxy Tape Echo is a tool of infinite creativity.

    Galaxy Tape Echo is a must!

    Very musical patches, and the tape and spring reverb combination is a winner. I have other really good tape emulations, but this does things the other ones don't. The results are often surprising in classic and subtle ways. In fact, the quality of my other UA plug-ins is on another level of professionalism

Native plug-ins are supported on macOS and Windows systems. See our Native UAD System Requirements article for full system requirements. An iLok account is required for managing your native plug-in licenses. We support iLok USB keys for portability, but one is not required.
