Track with the Legendary Sound of Rock
The undisputed alpha dog of rock and roll guitar amps, the Marshall 1959 Super Lead amplifier is as legendary as the music it helped create. From Jimi Hendrix to Jimmy Page to Eric Clapton, the plexi’s raunch defined the sound of rock. Developed by Softube, the Marshall Plexi Super Lead 1959 plug-in gives you the sound of this 100-watt British classic.
Voiced by a Legend
Producer/engineer Tony Platt has recorded some of the most quintessential Marshall tones ever committed to tape — most notably AC/DC’s landmark albums, Highway to Hell and Back in Black. Softube enlisted Platt to capture exquisite cabinet and microphone simulations using his Platinum-approved, tried-and-true mic recipes. You can choose from 50 Platt-designed presets, or craft your own tones.
Mix Between Seven Expertly Placed Microphones
Open up the plug-in’s Channel Strip section, and easily dial-in your sounds with Panning, global High/Low EQ, and Level control over each microphone, allowing precision fine-tuning — during tracking or mixdown. No matter the genre, or type of guitar, you’re afforded tons of tweakable options, from pin-point single miked tones to roars of glorious room ambience.
Get Authentic Plexi Tones with Unison™ Technology
The interaction of your guitar’s pickups to an amp’s front end is crucial to capturing the tone and feel of the amplifier. With UA’s Unison technology, Apollo user's guitar pickups will see the exact impedance load as if they’re plugged into a vintage Marshall Plexi — a feature found only on Apollo audio interfaces.
What They Say
We chose the combination of amplifier and cabinet very carefully and spent a lot of time finding the optimum microphone combinations and positions. The result is superb - this is really what a vintage Plexi actually sounds like.

So many options, so much power, so much control — this plug-in sounds amazing.
Usually, I am not a fan of amplifier plug in, but this one, it is very closed like original, of course, the settings is different than real, but you can get the sound like AC/DC, Joe Bonamassa, BB King, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you’ll need an Apollo audio interface, UAD-2 Satellite, or UAD-2 PCIe card to run these plug-ins, using the onboard DSP. The plug-ins run on the hardware itself, without adding strain to your computer’s CPU. In an Apollo, onboard DSP processing allows you to run realtime UAD plug-ins with near-zero latency, and even record that processing directly to your DAW.
Yes, you can start a fully functional 14-day demo from any plug-in bundled with the UAD software. Simply click “Start Demo”, and start using it in your DAW.
UAD-2 licenses follow the hardware, it does not matter which computer they are connected to. You can have up to six UAD-2 devices registered to a system in your Universal Audio account, which share those licenses. See UAD-2 Plug-In Licensing Explained for full details. Authorization of UAD-2 hardware is managed by the UAD Meter & Control Panel Application.
