Ampeg B-15N
Great warmth bass amp!

Ampeg B15N
As a bass player and computer user I have tried many amp simulators over the years but have never really been happy with any of them. I've always felt that we bass players have been a little forgotten. There are quite a few reasonable guitar amp plug ins out there but the bass ones have tended to lack weight, presence and are just not that convincing. Not the UAD Ampeg B15 though! This really does have a solidity to it. Whether working with a DIed instrument or a sampled bass this plugin can give the bottom end of your mixes some growling depth. The only difficulty is keeping the sound clean as the amp starts to distort very easily. If you can resist the temptation of winding it up till it sounds like it's going to self-destruct you can get some truly wonderful results!

Awesome- and very much like the real thing
Years ago I had a bass player who had one of these- from the 70s. That thing had this killer fuzz tone if you drove it hard. This plug in captures all the warm thump, girth, and smooth attack of the amp's core tone- and it can do that fuzzed out thing if you drive it. Along with the UAD SVT classic I've got all the bass tone I'll ever want for...

Finally a bass amp sim worth using
I think it's a rule of thumb for many producers that you'd much rather have a nice direct bass signal over a shoddy sounding amp. With this UA Ampeg simulator though I'm happy to commit on the way in - it's so hard to actually add character to a bass signal in a GOOD way but the UA B-15 does it. Warmth, a little growl, and the right amount of brightness to dial in. I just used an actual B-15 in a studio recording session as a bass player and I'm really happy to have the digital almost-realness in my studio flavors with great extra options you couldn't get from the original.

Awesome emulation...

Excellent!
This plugin, along with the other UAD Ampegs are the best ones I've found so far. More present and lively than any other amp sim I've tried. Sits in my mixes well with little tweaking.

Wish I could say it was better
I purchased this plug-in to add some volume and shape to my bass tracks. What I ended up with was a mess of noise. Now I'm out 100 bucks and no better off for it.

Simply Awesome
Amazing sound that sits in the mix and its so simple to use. Perfect compliment for the SVT-VR. Amazing bass tones without hauling in a 8x10 to 2x15.

Truth
If you want a plug-in that sounds like the real deal, this is it. I love this Ampeg plug-in! Very authentic sounding, you can't tell this one from the real one. I'm glad I bought this and would recommend it to anyone that likes Ampeg.

I Like the tone of this plugin on my Bass. Yummy!
I also found some pre-set guitar settings that work well on my guitar. (Nice surprise).
The Menu gives configuration options that a lot of us home studios can really use but couldn't afford. Nice touch UA.

Big Love.
This plugin, along with the other ampeg emulations, have become an indispensable tool for my bass tracks. Tracking bass DI and putting this baby on is an instant fit. Must have!!!

Loving it so far ... warmth, body, and definition
See also my review of Ampeg SVT-VR. I bought the SVT-VR and the B15N at the same time. B15N is the more classic tone, the VR more modern. Currently using the B15N for beefing up a mic'd bass track, then through the Audio Assault XCTR plug to add more saturation on selected bands. Perfect for cutting through a busy rock mix.

Sounds great!
We've been trying to get the bass-sound that I'm looking for our recordings with my band for a long time. This plugin gets us closer to any amp+mic+di combo we've tried so far. Also very helpful in the hunt for perfect vintage amp setup, as it makes it possible to try many combinations of cabinets, mics etc. which would be impossible to get near.

Old Guitar player and the B-15N Bass Plugin
Ive been using a keyboard for the low end for decades, and this Holiday I purchased, for the 1st time, a real live Fender Jazz Bass. Now then, Im a guitar player. Ive done alot of recording in my small studio, but What do I know about playing a REAL bass? Much less what its supposed to sound like?!?. Thats where I trusted UA. And they came thru, in spades!!! The Ampeg B-15N (with a limiter on the back side) sounds just about as killer as a bass can sound in the mix. It beats everything Ive ever owned for the low end, and Ive used LOTS of stuff over the years for the Keyboard. Im very VERY pleased with this! Just plug the Bass straight into the Apollo interface, Load up the B-15N plugin, throw in a limiter of sorts behind it and Im all set! You cant go wrong with this plugin folks!!!
