AMS® RMX16 Expanded Digital Reverb
AMS RMX16 Expanded Digital Reverb
I always wanted the hardware version of this but it would just a little too pricy, so when I saw the UA pluggin version of this I instantly picked it up without even trying the demo and I couldn't be happier. It has that sound that you might not know you need. but once you have it you realize that you can't live without it!!!
As good as it gets - red rain is pouring down ...
Being a drummer, grown up with Genesis, Phil Collins' drum sound, listened to Peter Gabriel's „So“ Album, what can I say about the AMS RMX16 reverb? This is it! My favorite reverb for tracking and mixing my acoustic and electronic drums. I have used RMX16 impulse responses before (Altiverb) and could not hear huge differences BUT – and this is very important – you can't change the settings with impulse response presets. With the UAD AMS RMX16 plugin YOU CAN. The beauty is to play with these setting. Moreover for live tracking this is available in real time with Apollo. As good as it gets!
King of Ambiance :)
It's handy and very practical...
Having grown up listening to the reverberating sound of a Martin Hannett snare, I was very intrigued by this. Now my new favorite reverb. Thank you UAD for such an incredible emulation
One of the best reverbs I've ever heard
I bought the 6 plugin combo when I registered my Apollo Twin USB, and knew I wanted to pick out at least one or two reverbs to go in it. The problem is, all of UAD's reverbs sound awesome -- so which could I possibly go for? Seriously, it took me a few solid weeks of testing them all out rigorously before I decided on the RMX16 (I also decided on getting the AKG BX20 because it's just too good to pass). The RMX16 has some of the most lush, analog verb sounds I've ever heard in a plugin. I've always been disappointed in reverb plugins, as good as they've gotten lately. So many don't have that warmth of hardware. RMX16 does. It was like a "Eureka!" moment when I started using the UAD reverbs. It also has some great chorus presets too. Get it.
Nothing like it
The RMS16 is quickly becoming my favorite verb. So easy to dial in. In the mix , where other verbs can muddy a mix , the RMS16 brings out the detail and makes things shine.
Thank you UAD for putting great care into this plug.
Great ambience presets, classic sounding reverb
A great reverb for smaller spaces and the ambiences are superb. Very accurate reproduction of the original.
This is a very popular and now classic reverb/effect that is in many recording studios. The sounds are wonderful and they sit very comfortably in your mix. I almost skipped this plugin but was pleasantly surprised once the demo came up. It has a unique sound and a good bag of tricks in the presets which are easy to modify to your taste. UA did a nice job on the AMS reverb.
Now I understand what the fuss was all about!
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord, And I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord!!!
Yes, it is the best!
My best in-the-box algorithmic reverb plugin, in terms of sound hardware like.
It can do its own "special" things from 80's and NOT ONLY!
We're gonna party like it's 1983
This reverb sounds great, is super versatile and just has "that" musical sound and character. I love to use this thing on drum machines from the era in particular and I've found great uses for the Echo and Plate algos in addition to the famed Ambience and Nonlin algos.
I agree that it needs a touch of EQ to darken it up a little but aside from that it's a thing of beauty and saved me over $2000 that I was about to spend on a hardware unit!
At first, I though the AMS RMX 16 was too expensive until I demoed it. Ambience presets alone worth the price.
Wow simply stunning
Wow simply stunning. So amazing!
A lot of fun!
UA's AMS RMX16 is the first reverb I try on drums and vocals; and 9 times out of 10 it stays there. When it fits: there's nothing else like it!
9 Really colorful and beautiful algorithm. A great toolbox with a sound of its own !
Versatile, impressive and expensive
The nine different algorithms make this unit very versatile. Long, infinite tales or small rooms, reverse effects and very rich and fat chorus effects - everything is possible. The reverb sits very well in a mix, even with extreme settings.
Still, it is easy and quick to edit, which is good while using it at recording sessions (wherefore I prefer it over the L224)
It sounds as expensive as it is: very cpu hungry it eats up about 40% of one DSP. Therefore, check your specs - perhaps other investments in UA Hardware accelerators are necessary to enjoy this plug within a mix together with other (beautiful but DSP-heavy) mk2 plug ins.
Helps Satisfies My Reverb Addiction
If there is one category UA hands down trumps all others in it is reverbs- the first time I heard the Plate 140 on the UAD1 PCI 10 years ago I could not believe my ears- there was simply nothing in the native platform that could compete. Regardless of what other plugins you use Reverb is the ingredient that allows you to sculpt depth and character in a mix- most of us could easily mix with built in DAW EQ's and compressors but Reverb is different- there is a reason studios spent $$$$$ on reverb units. The second I heard this AMS reverb I knew I had to have it- the Ambience algorithm alone is worth the entry fee- it has a character and sound all of its own that you will love- incredible job UA, demo it- brilliant!
creative, versatile, musical and easy to use
The UAD AMS RMX16 Plug-In has an outstanding, distinctive and unique character like the original one. it's currently my favorite reverb effect, although it is not intended to be a hyperrealistic or highend-sounding room-modeller-thing. It's a creative, versatile, musical and easy to use magic box, and fits perfectly in the mix. It's far away to be only these Miami Vice, Phil Collins Toms effect. I like tracks it particularly on individual instrument or bus tracks. As the main room, I use very rarely. You should try it but be careful, it can be addictive!
reverb i was looking for
i made some very nice loooong universe ambiences with this unit. not possible with others.. GR8
Not as intuitive as the Lexicon, but wow!
I have to work a little harder, and had to read more of the manual to get my head round this one. But the payoff is huge as this sounds like nothing else I own. Stunning.
