Mastering Indeed!
Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor is just that: mastering! It adds depth & ambience to an overall mix. Glad its in my "Bag of Mixing Tricks".

Everything just sounds better.....
Wow! Dave Pensado once said that 'everything just sounds better every time I use it'. He was right. I typically just hit it with a small amount of reduction, and it brings my tracks to life. I can't think of a mix that I have done without this plugin now..

The one and only of its Kind in Software
shadow hills Endorsed ! appart UAD-2 there is nothing out there that is emulating it. Expensive hardware unlikely to be emulated by indie Developers because of its sheer Double Comp complexity. metering shows it does its job but sound subtle

The glue on the mix track
I've read and heard about the Shadow Hills compressor and now had the oportunity to buy the plugin and I'm not aat all disappointed. This is a musical glue which I feel give an analogue feel to the music, more than any other plugins I have at my disposal.

Could be better.
Compressor is closed on the top / it is missing high end.
It's not coding that I expect from universal audio.

Nice emulation, but it doesn't have air. It's closed on the top frequencies. It is not this hd sound that I expect from uad.

Clean and Clear
Very clean mastering compressor. Adds *just* the right amount of punch to the master, pairs well with some other form of compression. Use this subtly for the best effect.

So musical and flexible!
great as a bus compressor, or if you are looking to add color to an instrument without removing all dynamics. can be subtle or slamming depending on how you want to use it. Love it, have been using it on all my mixes lately and can't see myself not putting it as part of my permanent chain.

I can't say it sounds like the hardware, because I can't afford the hardware unit, but it does sound great and clearly reacts very differently than other compressors in the UA line like LN 1176, LA-2A, API 2500, etc. I am definitely using it in mixes and happy with the "glue" it provides.

A little goes a long way
Shadow hills is something I use on almost every project. Even using this with a small amount of compression goes a long way; the roundness it adds its incredible!

Dynamic glue
This plugin just works and has flavor. I'm not familiar with the hardware version but the plugin version is definitely something to get excited about if you mix in the box. I put this on my master buss along with the Ampex ATR-102 and everything just seems to magically glue together. The presets are very usable and get me close to the sound I'm looking for with usually only minor tweaks to get my final mix.

Thick. Gluey. Musical.
This plugin is sick. I A'B'd this plugin against various others waves, uad, slate and more. This thing just sounds big. You don't even need to take anything off your audio. Just running the plugin and at unity with no compression just sounds musical. I really love it on my 2 mix and drums.

Essential plug-in for RMS level up.
I use this when I raise the sound pressure.
Other maximaizer / limiters have limitations in RMS level-up.
not satisfied.
If you try to match the RMS level to something else,
There would have been considerable distortion.
If you use this, you don't know the limit.
It's quite good and always used in mastering.

Plugins vs Hardware
Never heard the actual hardware of the Shadow Hills compressor, but when ran my mix down through this plugin I was very impressed, how it beefed up my mix and the presets are awesome as well !
