This thing rocketh

I'm so thrilled to now have the power to run dozens of tracks with Studer, several instances of Massive Passive, multiple Shadow Hills compressors, pretty much whatever I need/want. Just makes mixing a joyful process.

Enough power

I try to use a few plugins as possible when mixing, but this system offers me more than I need. Sounds pretty damn great too.

UAD Octo Power & the download Session

Hey Guys,

the Octo Card is very powerful and makes me happy ;-).
Only I had problems with the downloads Version 7.0. I need a lot of downloads til the right result. And now I can not select a demo-mode in the Software for test new UAD PlugIns....

At present I combine the octo in my workflow with built in my Mac Pro and on the road with my Book i use a sonnet chassis. A new Satelite Octo would be the best . My Wish for the future...
So sorry for my english...

Best regards to America ;-)
Thank you for your cool development. You all are doing a good job.
I am a very big fan!
Your
Stephan
PS: In this time I have often Problems with my Satelite Quad _ Firewire 800 to my Mac Pro.If I don't working some minutes ist the fw- stream interrupted

uad octo

I honestly didn't think it would be this good, but hands up, it's a fantastic piece of gear! Totally changed the way I mix and I now very rarely reach for my hardware stuff. To have that many instances available open up so many possibilities. +++++

no more track freezing within logic

I use Apple Logic with UAD plugs. As an upgrade from my UAD SOLO card I am really happy to now just mix songs without the need for freezing tracks running UAD plugs. It is so cool to just tweek any UAD plug whenever I want without having trouble to un-freeze tracks. Love it.

Very magical dsp card

This is really an exciting product, the sound is surprisingly good, the sound of analog hardware is very good! Worthy of the hardware simulation model!
The same time, this product is in pro Tools 10 where can actually use the 200 plug-in, the the DSP utilization rate is 93%!
Amazing!

Octo Rules!

I installed the card - registered it and went on with the Pluggz! The Power of the card is outstanding. So far I never had an issue on my Cubase7-Win64 Engine. Thanx UA - Great Work!!!

From UAD 1 to The Octo!!!

I started using UAD plug ins the moment they were available. Unlike some of you rich kids that were able to buy them all at once, I took my time and purchased them on an as needed bases. I now own practically all of the plug ins, the Apollo and the Octo Card. Thanks UAD for helping me create the sound in my studio and recordings.

New Octo plusses/minusses

It's hard to give a star rating cuz I can't tell exactly what factors are contributing to my current issues. On Mac, Octo card requires OS 10.8 so I had to update that first.

The card itself is fantastic. I love being able to have my own channel strip setup on every channel without having to strategize which tracks deserve limited CPU available. Using multiple instances of real power hog plugs (Lexicon, Manley Massive Passive...) is a relief. I can use whatever I want where I want without second thought.

...or can I? I experience regular freezes that result in force-quit, and constant lag from drives having gone to sleep. Despite having a very powerful computer, there is a data jam somewhere that may or may not be due to Octo card.

Worth it, but...

The UAD plugins are excellent, and truly do craft the sound according to their analog counterparts. I purchased a UAD Solo and UAD Duo Satellite. Unfortunately, this is still not enough horsepower to fully treat a mix, unless you are willing to bounce tracks all day. The bottom line is that you have to be prepared to invest at least $4000 to really transform your DAW into an analog mixer. But when one considers that a single piece of analog gear could be several thousand dollars, then the investment is put back into perspective. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I wouldn't mix digitally without UAD's software. And customer support is top notch. The biggest downside is trying to figure out which plugins you want since there's so many choices!

Great!

I badly needed something to lower the load of my PC for hungry VST, and found out about UAD PCI cards.
Not only does it help tremendously, but it gave me access to an amazing library of some of the best sounding VSTs I ever listened to! I love the warm analog sound and quality of these plugins.
With a bigger budget I'd be buying the whole lot!

Warp speed!

Give me warp speed Scotty! It's a well known sentence from Captain Kirk's Enterprise.....But this is actually what happened with my HP Z400 after installing the UAD-2 PCI-e Octo. For many years i have been using plug ins on my DAW-system; (HP Z400) from other suppliers. They used a lot of CPU power and i just had to find a solution to get rid of this problem. Many times i just didn't get enough CPU power to finish projects properly. With this UAD-2 Octo, it is a story from the past. This DSP accelerator card gives you warp speed without taking memory from it! I can recommend the UAD-2 Octo to everyone.Without using one single bit of RAM memory from your computer, you'll be able to use better plug ins than you have ever used before!

UAD Octo Heaven

Just got my Octo and I love it. I should have added this power to my Pro Tools HD Native machine a long time ago.

First use I hit 70% of the processing power, and I haven't finished my shopping list. Needless to say the results sound fantastic.

I love the UAD plugs, they are being massively incorporated into sessions and the offload of the Host Processor has made PT HD Native much more responsive.

Thank you, Universal Audio ... you've always been a part of my HW arsenal, now you're a leading component of my Digital Arsenal as well.

Wow...

Working at 96k and up, I would suggest another. You can still get a great sound, but I like to be cleaner and I love using the UAD EQ's. 48k, this one card is all you need.

UAD2 Octo meets performance expectation

After replacing my two Solo cards with the Octo I launched the same song I'd been working on in Logic and noticed the UAD DSP meter that was previously running at about 90% dropped to around 18%. Better than expected. This will now give me the headroom to run additional instances of the more DSP intensive plug-ins, like the Fatso, Ampex, Studer, EP-34, etc. It might even inspire me to eventually bite on the uber-DSP hog Massive Passive.

Wow just what the doctor ordered...Octo bandwidth!

Ok this was pricy but OMG. I finally have bandwidth! The Apollo is kewl but, the Duo just does not have the bandwidth for a lot of multitrack stuff in hi res audio. Sorry UA. Now I can finally load up the plug-ins, process music and not see those horrid red waring signs when you've run out of processing power. Weeehoo. I use a lot of software instruments so I like to put different effects on different tracks....but what's really great now is that UA can build a plug-in bandwidth hog and... I'm ready to run it. Great job UA..but pls don't come up with the 64 chip card too soon (aka mixing in Atmos 128 channel audio). Now how to market my first album on Google Play so I can afford more of your gear! Tips?
