NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, USA-18TH JANUARY 2007, Universal Audio, a manufacturer of high-quality vintage audio hardware and DSP software plug-ins for digital audio workstations, today announced the release of v4.5.1 software which is a preview (public beta) release focused on 64-bit driver support for Microsoft Windows XP X64 and the forthcoming new Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista. Version v4.5.1 is available as a free download for UAD customers at www.uaudio.com.

"With the imminent arrival of Windows Vista on January 30th, UA is making a preview release to our UAD users as the industry moves towards 64-bit drivers and operating systems." said Mike Barnes, VP of Marketing for Universal Audio Inc. " This first preliminary release allows our cutting-edge power-users to make the transition early, but as Vista gains momentum and is bundled in OEM PC's starting in February and March 2007, we have planned formal Windows Vista certification in our next release, v4.6 which is scheduled to ship along with a brand new UAD plug-in during late Q1 2007."

Key Features Include:

  • Windows XP Professional X64 Support
  • Preliminary Windows Vista Support
  • Improved Stability on Mac PowerPC/Intel platforms

About the UAD DSP Card
At the heart of every UAD DSP Card & Powered Plug-Ins package is the revolutionary UAD DSP card. Because of its high resolution, floating-point processing, ultra high-speed memory and hardware dithering, the UAD delivers outstanding high-headroom sound quality at sample rates from 32 to 192khz. Unlike other DSP cards, the UAD uses a single, unpartitioned vector processor, allowing for larger and more sophisticated plug-in algorithms offering a new level of power and complexity not found with host-based plug-ins. By greatly reducing the burden on the computer's CPU, the host application can now deliver more tracks, automation and native effects.
