    Beautiful sound, but might not be worth the DSP resources.

    This Lexicon 480L has a really beautiful sound, but it might not be worth the DSP resources if you need to place an EQ or a limiter before it in the Console app —and you also like to maintain more than a couple of Virtual Channels. Furthermore, I understand that the 480L is supposed to be authentic in its controls and sound, but I usually just end up going for 1/8ths and dotted 1/8ths when I'm setting delays. If this plugin is for you, just keep your "60,000 ÷ Tempo (÷ subdivision) = Milliseconds" calculator handy. As an owner of the Lexicon 224, the EMT-140, and the EMT-250, I think that UA making a native version of the 480L would make it a much better value, even though I bought it during a recent sale.

Yes, you’ll need an Apollo audio interface, UAD-2 Satellite, or UAD-2 PCIe card to run these plug-ins, using the onboard DSP. The plug-ins run on the hardware itself, without adding strain to your computer’s CPU. In an Apollo, onboard DSP processing allows you to run realtime UAD plug-ins with near-zero latency, and even record that processing directly to your DAW.

UAD-2 licenses follow the hardware, it does not matter which computer they are connected to.
