Studio Sound at the Push of a Button
Home recordings and phone demos can sound thin and lifeless. Volt gives your recordings incredible tone right from the start. With three mic preamp modes — Warmth, Focus, and Shine — you can quickly add Tube, Solid State, and British Class‑A tone to everything you record.
Hear Every Detail with 32-Bit Converters
When you capture that perfect take, Volt’s best-in-class 32-bit / 192 kHz converters preserve every detail, exactly as it happened. And with loud, clear speaker and headphone outputs, you'll get the perfect monitoring levels, from your first take to your final mix.
Record Your Voice and Instrument Like a Pro
Volt 2 gives you studio-grade Mic / Line and Hi-Z Instrument inputs, letting you record your vocals and instruments at the same time. Its clean 48V phantom-powered mic input lets you connect your favorite studio condenser mic for high-quality recording.
See the Big Picture with Smart Display
Volt 2’s full-color Smart Display shows your inputs, levels, and settings in detail. So you spend less time setting up and more time creating.
Turn Anywhere You Go into a Studio
Volt 2 is bus-powered. That means you don’t need a power outlet or external power supply to make music. Or even a studio space. Just plug Volt into your computer, tablet, or phone, pull up a session and get to work.*
Get the Perfect Levels with Auto-Gain
Nothing’s worse than a great take wrecked by digital distortion. Volt's Auto-Gain sets your recording levels in seconds, and Clip Protection catches unexpected peaks. So you can focus on the performance instead of the meters.
Start Making Music in Minutes
When you’re inspired, every second counts. Thankfully, Volt is ready, willing, and USB class-compliant on Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone. No downloads or drivers. Works with any DAW. So you can be up and recording in minutes.*
Shape Your Songs with UAD Plug-Ins and LUNA
Every Volt includes over 15 UAD plug-ins and instruments — the same software used to create and mix countless hit records for decades. Plus you get LUNA, UA’s award-winning DAW with authentic “big studio” sound and smart tools designed to make recording easy.
Ideal for Podcasts and Livestreams
Volt 2 Gen 2’s Loopback feature allows you to blend live sources with computer audio. So you can mix podcasts and livestreams in realtime. Or just level up your video calls. It’s the same way pro broadcasters work, built into every Volt.
*Requires an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (except iPhone / iPads with USB-C). Windows systems use the ASIO driver, available in the UA Connect app. Requirements for bus-power vary by model and device.

Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 is worth it for music makers who want two mic inputs with built-in studio character and easy, hands-on control. It combines two Tone Shaping Preamps with Warmth, Focus, and Shine modes, a full-color Smart Display, and Auto-Gain with Clip Protection, all on top of 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion. With the UAD Volt Studio Bundle and LUNA DAW included, it covers vocals, instruments, stereo sources, podcasts, and streaming right out of the box.
Volt 2 Gen 2 puts classic UA preamp tone and smart level control into a compact, bus-powered USB audio interface. Each of its two mic / line inputs has a Tone Shaping Preamp modeled on classic tube, solid state, and British Class-A sounds, so your recordings start with character instead of needing it added later. The Smart Display and Auto-Gain take the guesswork out of setup, which leaves more of your session for making music.
The Smart Display on the Volt 2 Gen 2 is a full-color screen that shows your inputs, levels, and settings at a glance. You can select channels and set gain quickly with bright visual feedback, without squinting at tiny LEDs or reaching for your computer. It's especially handy when you're running two mics and want to see both channels at once, with perfect stereo linking.
Volt 2 Gen 2 upgrades the original Volt 2 with 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion, three Tone Shaping modes in place of a single Vintage mode, a full-color Smart Display, and Auto-Gain with Clip Protection. It also adds independent 48V phantom power on each channel and full integration with the UAD Console app and LUNA, including session recall and low-latency cue mixes. The formula you know stays intact: two inputs, bus power, and classic UA tone, now with much more control.
Choose the Volt 2 Gen 2 for two Tone Shaping Preamps and smart level control, and the Volt 2 Max if you also want onboard Max compression and a more expandable desktop setup. Volt 2 Max adds Max Processing with six compressor presets based on the 1176, LA-2A and VCA types, ADAT or S/PDIF optical input, MIDI In and Out, a USB hub, a built-in talkback mic, and a second ⅛” headphone output. If you mainly record vocals and instruments at your desk or on the go, Volt 2 Gen 2 has the core features you need.
The Volt 2 Gen 2 gives each input three Tone Shaping modes, and each one flatters different sources. Use Warmth, inspired by the UA 610 tube preamp, for vocals and acoustic guitar that need body; Focus, based on a famous American solid state console, for rap vocals, electric guitar, and bass; and Shine, drawn from classic British Class-A circuitry, for anything that needs air up top. Because each channel has its own preamp, you can run Warmth on a vocal and Focus on a guitar in the same take.
Auto-Gain on the Volt 2 Gen 2 sets your recording levels in seconds, and Clip Protection catches unexpected peaks before they turn into digital distortion. Together they guard against the most common way a great take gets ruined. You can sing or play at full intensity and keep your attention on the performance instead of the meters, letting Volt do the work for you.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 records stereo sources through its two mic / line inputs, each with its own Tone Shaping Preamp and 60 dB of digitally-controlled gain. That works for a pair of condenser mics on acoustic guitar or piano, or a stereo keyboard, synth, or drum machine through the line inputs. Independent 48V phantom power on each channel lets you pair a condenser with a dynamic mic whenever you need to, without fear of hurting a mic that doesn’t need phantom power.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 is USB class-compliant and works with iPad and iPhone running iPadOS or iOS 16 or newer. Devices with USB-C connect directly, and devices with a Lightning port need an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. Bus-power requirements vary by device, so some phone and tablet setups work best with the Volt's USB external power input connected.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 works with macOS 12 Monterey or newer and Windows 10 64-bit or newer on Intel, AMD, and Apple silicon, and it's compatible with all major DAWs. It's class-compliant on Mac with no driver needed, and on Windows it uses the UA ASIO driver from the UA Connect app. It also includes LUNA, UA's award-winning DAW, so you can start recording without buying anything else.
The UAD Console app gives the Volt 2 Gen 2 low-latency cue mixes and session recall. A cue mix lets you set exactly what you hear in your headphones while tracking, so you can hear yourself clearly over the playback. Session recall brings your interface settings back when you return to a project, and Volt 2 Gen 2 is fully integrated with LUNA as well.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 records two people at once, with each voice on its own mic, its own preamp, and its own track. That makes it a natural fit for duets, co-writing sessions, and a singer playing alongside another musician. Each channel gets its own Tone Shaping mode and phantom power switch, so you can dial in each performer separately.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 is USB bus-powered, so it runs on power from your computer with no outlet or power supply required. It draws 3.4W in typical use, which makes it a good match for a laptop, a backpack studio, or a desk where outlets are scarce. When a host device can't supply enough power, a separate USB external power input (5VDC at 1A minimum) keeps it running.
No, the Volt 2 Gen 2 uses UAD Native plug-ins, which run on your computer's processor instead of dedicated DSP hardware. The included UAD Volt Studio Bundle, with the Teletronix LA-2A, UA 1176, and UA 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection, runs right in LUNA or your favorite DAW. If you later want to track through UAD plug-ins with Unison™ preamp modeling, UA's Apollo interfaces add onboard DSP for that workflow.
The Volt 2 Gen 2 includes the UAD Volt Studio Bundle, which pairs the LUNA DAW with UAD plug-ins and instruments used on countless hit records. Highlights include the Teletronix LA-2A and UA 1176 compressors, the UA 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection, Pure Plate Reverb, Galaxy Tape Echo, the PolyMAX and Anthem synths, and the UAD Lion '68 and Showtime '64 guitar amps. Additional instruments and production tools from partner developers are included too, and bundle contents are subject to change.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 is a great first audio interface because it handles the tricky parts of recording for you. Auto-Gain sets your levels, Clip Protection catches peaks, and the Smart Display shows you what's happening at every step. It's also class-compliant and comes with our LUNA DAW and a full UAD plug-in bundle, so you can go from unboxing to your first finished song without extra purchases.
To start a podcast with the Volt 2 Gen 2, you need two microphones, a pair of headphones, and a computer, tablet, or phone to record on. Its two mic inputs give each host their own channel, and built-in loopback brings a remote guest, intro music, or sound effects into the same mix. The Tone Shaping Preamp modes help each voice sound full and polished, and LUNA gives you a place to record and edit episodes.
Yes, the Volt 2 Gen 2 is a strong choice for streaming with an XLR microphone on a Windows PC or a Mac. Its XLR combo inputs power condenser mics with 48V phantom power, and built-in loopback blends your voice with game audio, music, or chat in realtime. Tone Shaping Preamps give your stream voices real studio character, and Clip Protection keeps an excited shout from distorting on air.
