This French-made device is a favorite of EDM producers, DJs, and remixers with its lush soundscapes, distortion, waveshaping, and pitch shifting. Developed by Softube, the OTO BISCUIT 8-bit Effects plug-in gives you the same effects of the hard-to-find hardware.

Hear the Crushing Truth

The OTO BISCUIT 8-bit Effects plug-in has all the features you need to creatively mangle your sources on a bit-per-bit level. Invert or mute individual bits for a wide range of classic to twisted lo-fi effects, add chiseled crunch to kick and snare drums for instant character, or dial down the sample rate clock to generate funky, trashy aliasing textures on any instrument.

Fine Tune with Analog Filtering

After BISCUIT has done its digital demolition on your signal, use the analog filter to smooth out more aggressive elements of the distortion and aliasing. These filters are also useful for subtle warming and tone shaping, as well as more in-your-face textures and real‑time tweaking.

Get Four Lo-Fi Effects

The Waveshaper, with its impressive selection of wave types, can transform a synth bass or vocal line into a complex, ear-catching hook, while the Delay — which offers five seconds of delay time — can be synced to the host tempo for unique sounding repeats. Finally, the Pitch Shifter adds subtle weight and dimension or video game-style blips, while the Step-Filter lets you easily incorporate rhythmic elements full of sonic surprises for movement and texture.

    Love this

    This is the type of effect that I wish UAD and other companies would make more of I think people are crazy that just overlook this effect and niche of plug-ins as boring or whatever anyway I love this thing and look forward to experimenting with it more. yes sure it does take a fair amount of DSP. However, there areally always workarounds and perhaps one day when I update my interface this will be a non-issue, a native version two would be welcome though I’m guessing this is a low priority for UA anyway, I’m thankful to have this for some extra creativity in the pallet where they’re really not that many filter options and special effect options in the UAD arsenal, though I hope that will change in the near future as well. Come on folks we need more experimental and daw/midi syncable lfos/ filters, thank you. ❤️

    great effect

    Classic effect but with added routing flexibility and some interesting quirks. Great sound quality as expected, which is not an easy thing to say for a LoFi type of FX !

    Very Useful

    At first I wasn’t really sure how useful this plugin would be. After demoing it for a few days, however, it started growing on me and now I can see myself using it all the time.

    OTO Biscuit and Delay

    OTO Biscuit is a great plugin to mess with your sounds, I use it mostly on drums. The added effects are great but the delay is next level.

Yes, you’ll need an Apollo audio interface, UAD-2 Satellite, or UAD-2 PCIe card to run these plug-ins, using the onboard DSP. The plug-ins run on the hardware itself, without adding strain to your computer’s CPU. In an Apollo, onboard DSP processing allows you to run realtime UAD plug-ins with near-zero latency, and even record that processing directly to your DAW.

UAD-2 licenses follow the hardware, it does not matter which computer they are connected to.
