Love this classic LA2A tone!!!
Although I've never used an hardware unit, after spending some time with this UAD La2a collection I understand why they are so sought after. I can lamp down on a vocal with this and it really helps it level out and move to the front. And the lush tone it gives decreases the need for eq in some cases.
Also dig what it can do for bass. Evens it out and can add just the right gritt a track may be calling for. Becoming a go to piece for me.

These plug-in's are great. The 1176LN is my go-to for my drum buss compression. I use the non plug-on version of hte 1176 quite often and it's safe to say these plug-in's get you 80% of the way there. They are EASILY the best plug-in emulations available though. Worth the investment.

Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection = Awesome
If you looking to add some color/resolution to your mix, then I highly recommend this plugin collection. I have used other variations of this limiter and this is (I don't own the real thing) but would have to say this is the closest.

I've used countless emulations from other software teams, and nothing comes close to this. These sound fantastic on drums, bass, and vocals.

Great plug, shame I was overcharged!
Love the 610 collection, they sound great, but I was charged $149 (pre vouchers) on black friday deal when it was listed at $89!! By the time I noticed, I'd completed the transaction. Raised a query through UA online support but several weeks later and I'm still waiting for a response. Online customer service is very slow if not non existent in my experience which is a shame as I love UA and use loads of their hardware and plugs. Always great on the phone but I'm in the UK so timing can be a problem!

This is a flavour I like.
I haven't listened the original one closely but I love the sound I got with this plugin beyond the closeness to the real hardware. This is matter of flavours so, try this out in the free time period and you'll check whether it's a flavour you'd like to have in your arsenal.

Pleasantly surprised
Although the original version never really inspired me, the demos of the new collection piqued my curiosity. After activating the trial, it was clear that these represented a real improvement and I found several applications where they really seemed to shine. I am amazed at the results on group background vocals, as well as their usefulness on male lead vocal tracks.
For lack of a better term, the "vibe" element is present in this collection, in spades. Very easy to apply, with quick, usable results. Highly recommended.

Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection
What a great piece of gear, in a plugin. If you are looking to warm up and fatten up a vocal, a kick, an acoustic guitar.....anything really, the Fairchild Limiter collection does that beautifully. One of the coolest features is the mix feature. Allowing you to aggressively compress your track and mix in just the right amount of the clean track to give you killer depth. Well worth the investment. UA does it best!!!

I own both the legacy version and now the classic version....All I can say is WOW

just the best 1176's emu
For me it's just the best emu of 1176's i've ever used. I did not own a 1176 to get an A/B on my set, but it is miles far before the products of the other big and smaller "blues" in the plugin market. 5 stars...

Wow!
I was (am still) very happy with the legacy version, so I held out on upgrading, but when I finally did, I was blown away! 3 different flavours of my fave compressor (4 counting the legacy version) - I'm in opto heaven!
