Double-edged sword
Be careful with all digital saturators. The oxide tape likewise makes the sound stronger and weaker.

Great for thickness
This plugin is best used across all tracks. This adds subtle harmonics and a sweet thickness across the whole track. Much cheaper than the other tape emulators and just as good imo.

Good UA Tape sim
This is an excellent tape sim and very affordable. It doesn't touch the Ampex or Studer in capabilities but offers a lot for little. This is a good place to start if you want some tape sound but don't have a ton of money for the brand name machines. I still throw it on tracks even though I own the others. A great deal!

Tape recorder and tape recorder.
Used this for both aucoustic guitar and vocal and it works fine.

dsp and track count vs other tape recorders
In testing this has served really well to provide capabilities for use across multiple tracks with less dsp load. That surely makes it worth it.

Nice sound
This is a decent sounding plugin. I found it is really nice on acoustic guitar - takes some edge off. Honestly, I wished I could have afforded the more expensive UAD magnetic tape offerings as Oxide isn't exactly feature rich.

Scrape the tape
A no nonsense tape saturation for cheap. It does enough to get that warmth and magic. The Studer and Ampex plugs might give you a little more parameters but this does the job without all the mess. Basically, does what you want it to do.

Une touche analogique
Bonjour

Tape emulator
I don't know what it really does but I like it. Seems to act like a saturator.

Little beast
I was impressed by Oxide demo and decided to buy it 3 days after.
It does great job on drums and mix busses.
Be careful with it on master, because it significally boosts lows and highs, do not over-use it.

Sounds Like Tape
Really cool emulation. Simple to use and great on vocals and drums.

Good for punch
I really like how the low and high frequencies start to sound a little bit more punchy.
Will use it a lot for sure

Really good for saturation
I really like this tape. It's great for adding overdrive to guitars. I really like it for that saturation. The only thing I don't like its that I cannot run many of them on my Apollo Twin Duo. I guess I'll just have to buy more processing eventually.

Very Usable!
Oxide is a very good choice!
I'm actually always finding myself using it on hats and synths and it immediately gives me that "pro" sound i was hoping to reach.
On my kick drums instead i can't find a use for it, for this single task i just prefer other tape emulations.

Fantastic
Really does take me back to the 90's when I used tape. Simple...to the point and subtle. Love the 'glue' it gives to the lower frequencies. Very nice job UAD and what a price!

wenn's nicht drauf ist fehlt etwas...
ein sehr cooles Plug-In. Es rundet schön ab und gibt einen warmen, angenehmen Glanz. Glanz und nicht nur Wärme, denn der Puderzucker kommt von oben...

Worth it.
I have the Ampex however to be honest stretching for the Studer also really seemed a far stretch. I was dubious at first as its not as flexible as the Studer however the simple fact is it sounds good and the price is good. I work in a place with old unused Studer machines in many of the Studios, modern digital remodelling although not quite so perfect to their emulations is so close its not worth, for the average person, shelling out. Just like 70mm film not everyone can do it as its so expensive, but a good movie on digital is still a good movie. This is a good tape emulation to enjoy using.

instant fatness
until recently the AMPEX has been my go-to tape plugin. since i purchased the Oxide tape i tend to use this one more often. it´s easier and to use and eats less DSP power. i must admit the roundness and fatness this tape emulation delivers is probably far off from what a real tape recorder would do. but who cares: this Oxide plugin thing gives me that instant fatness thing. one of my favourite UAD plug-ins.

Simple, easy to use, and effective.
Imparts a desired sonic character... Works nicely/most effective when applied across lots of tracks, which is actually possible as it is not such the DSP 'hog' as the ATR or Studer A800.. have been using this plug in on every mix.
R. Dodd
Yes if..
If you don't already own the Studer A 800, then this is for you.
If you want to 'just grab a preset and hear a change", this is for you.
If you've used the 'real thing' for many years, you may prefer the flexibility of either the ART or Studer.
Good value.
