Swiss army knive
It's swiss army knive. It is very useful for drum track adjustment. I love it.

This plugin is better than Native Instruments!!!

Quite useful
Never tried the hardware version. I have had success with this thing on individual drums, where it has helped bring certain elements fwd in the mix by differential emphasis on transient and body. Warning: I've learned to best set it while listening to the whole mix and not to the individual track, as some guitars for example might sound better with this thing on their own, only to be obviously over-treated when playing back a mix. I do not regret the purchase, would purchase again.

PS:
In my review I should have wished for an AUTOMATIC level-compensation feature. I know there's an output level control.

Very useful
This unit can really shape percussive things like kicks and snares in a way that eq, gating, and compression can't-at least not this quickly. It sounds great, and my only quibble would be that I wish UAD had deviated from the hardware and put in a level-compensation feature. A very cost-effective and time-saving plugin.

An invaluable tool
The transient designer has been a game changer for me in its various incarnations. UA's version is surprisingly powerful. From subtle to extreme, being shaping the attack on a finger-picked guitar to adding a heap of sustain to a snare drum, this is one of the most useful tools in a mix.

Simply Brilliant
It's amazing what one can do with only three knobs. This is one of those tools that always seems to be a quick solution for various issues.

Excellent plugin for drums
This plugin is awesome and can help you save problematic drums.

Better than others
Fantastic little tool. I've compared it to other transient plugins - SPL native, Schaak, NI, and must say that it does sound better. Attack adding is without nasty high frequencies, sustain removal does its thing very smoothly. No need for any other transient plugin.

Very good on drum

right tool to clean up drum overheads
I bought this especially because i needed more attack on ride cymbal and less sustain. Changed the drums from 'tshhh tshhh tshhhh' to 'tzig tzig tzig'. If you're into jazz, you might now what I mean:-) A small tool that should be in any producer's toolbox.

Best One Out There!
Having demoed nearly every transient reshaping plugin on the market , I must say that the UAD SPL Transient Designer is the best one. I can really get drastic with reshaping my drums and the end result always sounds quite natural. Can't mix without it!

Wow
Need some punch? You'll get it! I use it on single drums like kick or snare to tighten it up, and even on the drum bus sometimes for putting the drums in their place without turning them too loud! At all a transient designer which does what it's there for. Five stars.

Great tool for punch
SPL Transient Designer is incredibly easy to use to add punch to close drum mics and smooth out transients on room mics. Great stuff!

Acoustics!
Great for Natural Acoustic sources.

Good tool
Don't use it often but it's good. Mostly used to cut down too prominent pick sounds of the guitar. But yes, you should have one. Doesn't affect the rest of the sound at all.
