The Channel: Digital Media Technology
by Terry Hardin

Digital Media Technology (DMT Pro), Universal Audio's distributor for China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, again had a very impressive presence at the 2005 Beijing International Radio and Television Expo, which took place August 25-28. This show is held annually at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, a facility that resembles a major film studio lot with more than 13 soundstage-size buildings to house the exhibitions. This show has traditionally been focused on Chinese broadcast professionals, but it has grown in recent years to include the burgeoning pro audio and recording markets. The Expo has also become much more international in scope. Universal Audio was well-represented at this year's event, and our friends at DMT Pro report that the show was a huge success for them. With their sights set squarely on the Summer Olympic Games, to be held in Beijing in 2008, the broadcast and audio production industries are investing heavily in the best audio technology available to ensure world-class results. As much planning, preparation, and effort go into the broadcast and audio production side of the Games as go into the infrastructure, stadiums, highways, hotels, etc.

This year's Expo attracted 350 exhibiting companies and more than 50,000 visitors. The
team at DMT Pro was busy throughout the four-day run of the show and saw a fair percentage of the 50,000 show attendees at their booth.
