Great plugin but REALLY needs an update!

The GUI of this plugin reminds me of early 2000s Waves products. The plugin is very slow to respond and uses WAY TOO much DSP. A great plugin that we all love in great need of an update PLEASE.

Latency and worse than 25 - Waves Abbey Road Chamber

Did you know rhat every UAD Plugin introduces 12ms Larency? And most plugins have 0ms latency.
I think UAD is great for recording vocals with a processed, realtime headphone signal And for pure mixing.
For the creative process of writing and production uad plugins are useless due to latency and totaly overpriced. A money machine due to its closed system. Not a fan.

So So

I’m a huge fan of UAD plugins but sadly I’m not convinced it adds up to the hype. Worse still, despite running on a very high spec MacBook Pro there aren’t enough resources to run it with more than an additional basic plugin. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it feels like a bit of a chocolate teapot. Sorry guys.

I need to study more

I recently bought it and am studying ways to use it. The much acclaimed "remic mode" so far is not interesting to me, especially with what it does with treble, it seems to me that there is a cut above 15khz. When used in voice in "remic mode" the treble is greatly affected by being present and this for "pop" songs is not cool. Sending a drum in "remic mode" makes it unusable in modern music, guitars in "remic mode" present the same problems as before. I don't believe the real studio delivers a sound like that, at least so far only "reverb mode" is usable for me and as it says in the manual "it's just like any other reverb plugin".
The "remic mode" may be interesting for songs like jazz, big band or anything where the "modern presence" is harmful.
Another problem is the lack of material for study, because it is a "controversial" plugin 5 minutes of UAD is no use and the manual has little technical information and on the internet few things are found. I need to study further and experiment to know whether or not I hold my position.

Meh

I demoed this plug in for a while and thought I liked what it was going to my guitar track until I bypassed this plug in and realize how much better I liked my guitar sound without it . I havnt tried it on drums or piano or anything yet so I guess I’m hoping I’ll figure out some way to use it since I already bought it lol . I think this plug in would be great for a song intro or something where you want the guitar to sound well roomy and I want to say raw perhaps ? Seems like I lose a lot of highs and gain a bunch of lows , lots and lots of lows , this plug in really brings out the woof , mud and everything you don’t need on clean guitar , but it may work great for a heavily distorted guitar ?

It’s a miracle! But a lot of utility...

You are so happy,If you need change a midi’s instrument sounds to rearl sound.
But... it’s so many utility DSP. It’s carefully to choose this one.

Colors too much

Eh.. so pretty disappointed in this plug in. I've worked with it for a week. Colors too much, not great reverbs imho.. Maybe I'm using it wrong but I've spent countless hours tweaking on both remic and verb. If I could do it over I wouldn't spend the money. All it does is muddy everything up on drum bus.

Problematic but amazing utility

I would rate this a 5 if it weren't for its downsides, which unfortunately means at this point its a 3 star rating.

This is a superb sounding utility plugin, does amazing things to dull sounds, makes them feel alive and warm and can be many things to many people depending on how its used. Really, an excellent concept and end result.

But it has technical problems that greatly diminish me using it in my workflow - yes, as others have said it is a resource hog, but that is something at least in my situation with an Octo card I can work with - but its unfortunately the CRASHES I've experienced with this plugin that make me shiver in fear of using it. Too many sessions crashing due to activating multiple instances, with plenty DSP to spare :/

Mixed feelings about this one

It sounds pretty good for drums and guitar but a CPU hog and pretty expensive
Can get pretty similar room sounds with many other plugins
Mic swapping pretty neat
It's ok

Ocean Way to Heavy

Let me start by saying the product is pretty cool. I use it constantly. With that said, my main system is an iMac i7 with 8 cores @ 3.4 Ghz and 32Gb Ram. 2 thunderbolts, 2 800 Firewires, running 2 - UAD-2 DUO's. I have a lot more outboards and pre's, Hot Swap TB raid's and a second system. But this is a review for the Ocean Way Studio plugin. My point - I have ample capacity. The plugin is heavy in DSP. The most efficient way to utilize the plugin is strictly on a Bus, and group your sends. You may get an audio engine failure if you use it on individual tracks. Also you may have to disable the plugin if utilized and recording other tracks, you may have latency. I own Bird Dog Records and running the systems and plugins all the time. - g

the first trials

To be honest, I expected more .... Maybe in the future work it will change my opinion.

Absolutely love the idea

Thought this would be somthing I would really love , don't get me wrong I did like but after comparing it to other convolution reverbs couldn't merit the price tag . It sounded different but not better .

Does nice things, but is a resource hog

I've been spending a lot of time with the demo. I have a worse sounding room than most people, probably, and I've been able to use only this plug and the UA Fairchild to replace really long FX chains on my lead vocals, resulting in a much more natural sound. The effect on backing vocals and string groups is truly beautiful. I found the drum and guitar presets to need fidgeting with the mic placement and mixes, but with a very little effort I can get a good sound. As a reverb effect, this is one of the most understated and truly natural I've heard. 3 Stars because it is a BEAST on resources. With two UAD-2 Solo cards, I can only run two instances at any time, forcing me to render the tracks to remove the plug-in.
