Pretty nice
I give this piece 4 stars because it functions well. The unison technology is nice. Is it the "be all end all" of recording? Not really. The pres without any plugins sound pretty nice themselves. No real use for the unison. Granted I only tried the 610 and the neve 88r plugin. I have the api and the 1073, but have yet to use them. I use this piece mainly as an extra set of pres and for its processing power. Actually works quite well as just that. Lack of aggregate support kills this piece for me. I wanted to integrate the Apollo with my Symphony system. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in aggregate. Clocked to the symphony it is pretty nice sounding. Haven’t tried it clocked internally, but I am told it is nice as well.

I'm happy to become an UAD family member - I simply love my new Apollo. Really nice piece...
The only reason for 4 stars is, that there are not much functions in console useful for surround applications. An option for surround 5.1 (7.1) monitoring systems must be just a simple stuff for you, UAD engineers, no? :)

UAD Apollo 8 Duo
I recently upgraded from the first gen Apollo to second gen and i must say, the converters alone are a worth the upgrade. The clarity and dynamics sound incredible, unfortunately it also reveals flaws in your past mixes you throught were the tits. The ability to bypass all preamps is a huge plus if you use all your i/o with outboard gear. The only negitive on my end would the Console 2.0, the i/o setup is not as intuitive with outboard gear as the previous console. It took UA tech support and myself an hour and a half setup the i/o properly, and I still don't quite understand, but i'm sure a lot of people like it better. I do recommend the upgrade or purchase, it sounds fantastic!!

Professional converters quality with the possibility of running one of the best plugins in the market today. What more could I ask for?

First experience
I have my UAD Apollo 8 since 2 weeks now and I'm very happy with my purchase. It was easy to setup and the sound is great. I have a wider and much deeper sound field than I have had with my old interface, that helps me to make the right decisions during a mix.

No backlit numbers
The new Apollo 8 sounds great. My only complaint is that the dB scale is hard to read compared to the silver face. Why couldn't they have been backlit?
