An EQ winner gets even better
I had the 1073 plugin prior to upgrade, and use it frequently on string instruments and vocals. But the Preamp has that extra bit of musicality that is essential for ITB recording. I find myself adding it to mix busses just for the Preamp coating. Like the Pultec, even flat settings provide a little bit of color that is highly desirable.

Unison 1073 & Me
Once my 3rd round of free 14 day trials was expired I finally made the commitment . It's a lush sounding preamp plug-in and worth every dollar; however I held out for a sale and used a $50 coupon, to make this purchase. I'd pay full price if I had to replace it because I won't record without it.

Sounds Like Butter!!!
i don't have any reference of what the actual console sounds like but everything about this is so smooth and feels good. I Sum in 16 and simply put an instance on each output. That alone is enough to gel a mix and keep things sound full and tight...

sonic bliss
A great revision of an already super useful EQ plug-in. Now also the preamp "colour" sounds great... It can add sheen and depth, clean up the mid range in a very musical way.

In my first review I said I wouldn't buy this b/c it used too much dsp. Boy was I dumb. This is an amazing channel strip. It has that big, solid, forward, huge sound that you can get from stacking pultec EQs- plus you can comp, create subtle , natural gate, add grit etc- and you can track through this. Between the 1073 and the 88rs I have either fat and crunchy pres or clean, thick pres. Hard to imagine needing more. Yes, it's a dsp hog, but if you track through it you get the sound to tape. Then I use one instance per mix - on whatever I feel is the most critical to the song- either the snare or the vocal- and make that magic. Then I can use the legacy version as a utility on other tracks and bam- done. Add a few instances of select other comps and eqs (I now love the legacy API EQs) and you are golden....

Great plugin has that classic Neve musical sound to it love the Unison functions format eq sound amazing a touch of the mic pre then adjust output i use it all on this plugin my new go to first in all my insert chains now !!!

Amazing!
I have a couple of Neve 1073 pre's and when I tried out this demo I was blown away. I personally can't tell much of a difference if any from my actual pre's and that's a HUGE reason to own this which I now do :).

Perfect Preamp
The Neve 1073 is a very welcome addition to all in the box recordings. Especially for giving life to sampled drum instruments. I'm blessed to actually own a 1073D. A/B comparisons on vocals and string instruments are very close. If you love crisp tracks with as-close-to-authentic recordings, this will give your tracks punch and pronounciation. Worth the upgrade
After having the original channel strip and relying on it when a flexible processor is needed, I didn't think I'd need the new version. Even a simple fader helped my work flow. It the real power came from the unison pre. I found myself traveling for a record and I had my twin and Apollo racks with me. Haveing the 88 pre with me at all times made my job easier and more productive. Now I'm mixing and found the same power I became used to but didn't need to be as much as I committed through the console. Always impressed with these plugins.

Incredible smooth analog distortion
I don't own an Apollo and so I can't use the unison feature. But I use the preamp on all kinds of instruments and the sound is incredibly smooth and 3d. Very useful for some grit.

Good for everything
It can stay even on masterbus without problems. The Legacy one is also great, low resources, excellent behavior.
